39, Madhav, Trishuli, Chinese Long, Makwanpur, Samjhana, Myagdi, Syangja
and Tarbare)) were evaluated during autumn seasons of 2010 and 2011 at the
Agriculture Research Station, Malepatan, Pokhara (848 msl) to assess the
variability in the genotypes and their potential utilization in improvement
programs. The experiment was conducted in randomized complete block design
(RCBD) with three replications. The variability was significant among the
genotypes in adaptation, vegetative growth, floral and pod characteristics and
fresh pod yield. The highest number of branches and nodes per plant were
produced by Syangja (9.2 and 44.0, respectively), while the lowest number of
branches (3.7) and nodes (24.4) were produced by LB-39. Makwanpur was the
earliest in flowering (37.5 days) and Syangja was lattest in flowering (72.2
days). The tallest plants were found in Chinese Long (278.3cm) and the shortest
in LB-31 (212.6cm). Makwanpur produced the highest number of flower buds
per inflorescence (5.7) and the lowest flower bud producer was Myagdi (3.4).
Pod length and width were the highest in Chinese Long and Myagdi (20.7cm and
33.5 mm, respectively), and the lowest in Tarbare and Makwanpur (7.6cm and
8.5 mm, respectively) genotypes. Four Season produced the highest fresh pod
yield (30.3 t/ha, which was followed by Makwanpur (28.0 t/ha) and the lowest
fresh pod yielder was Myagdi (7.9 t/ha). The range of diversity among the
evaluated genotypes showed the possibility of their utilization in variety selection
for commercial production.

In 2012, the higher Percent Disease Control (PDC) and Percent Yield Increase (PYI) were estimated in plot treated with SAAF (Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63%) followed by Mancozeb fungicides. The mean Pod Infection (PI) was low in plots treated with SAAF followed by Mancozeb. Almost similar trends of disease control were observed in 2013. The lower Percent Disease Index (PDI) was 46.25% and mean PI was 29.67% with higher yield value of 2431.25 kg/ha obtained from the plots sprayed with SAAF then by Mancozeb. The results showed that, the combined treatment with fungicides, SAAF followed by Mancozeb were effective to control anthracnose or pod blight disease of soybean to increase the yield.

plants flowered within 32.83 days while it took more than 35.70 days for Mallika. Tallest plants
were produced by Arka Kamal (33.93 em) and shortest by Mallika (31.08 em). The pod length was
highest (I2.67 em) in Arka Suvidha and the lowest in Ma/lika (9.31 em). Pod width was highest in
Arka Kamal (IO. 79 min) and the lowest in Mallika (9.3I mm). Number of branches, nodes/plant and
flower buds/inflorescence were recorded highest inArka Kamal at 7.43, 27.04 and 5.12 respectively.
Highest fresh pod yield was produced by Arka Suvidha (1 0. 75 t/ha) followed by Arka Kamal (1 0.17
t/ha) and the lowest by Mallika (6.88 t/ha). Sowing date also showed significant effect an yield and
yield attributes. Sowing on I6 August showed better results in early flowering (33.1 1 days), tallest
plants (35.99 em), longest pods (12.56 em) and widest pods (11.25 mm). Highest number of
branches, nodes/plant and flower buds/inflorescence were recorded in 16 August sown condition at
7.40, 27.8I and 5.26 respectively. The highest fresh pod yield (I 1.I6 t/ha) was recorded in 16
August sowing followed by 3I August (10.I9 t/ha) and the lowest (6.45 t/ha) in 15 September sawn
condition. Arka Suvidha sown on I 6 August produced the highest fresh pod yield with an average of
13.08 t/ha. The result revealed that Arka Suvidha is the best genotype and mid August is the
