Languages : English (eng) Keywords: clones, hills, terai, potato, varieties Abstract: Demand of high yielding potato varieties with major diseases and pest resistance has been
tremendously increasing day by day in Nepal. With the objective of fulfilling this demand. a series
of on-station and on-farm studies as Initial Evaluation Trials, Coordinated Varietal Trials and
Coordinated Farmers' Field Trials were are continuously undertaken by National Potato Research
Programme (NPRP) after its establishment (1991). Results from several on-station and on-farm
trials conducted during the years of 2004/05 to 2009/010 demonstrated that clones L 235-4 and
C/P 389746.2 are superior to check varieties tested for their growth, yield characteristics and
farmers' preferences including better resistance level to late blight disease. Therefore, based on
their overall performance, clone L 235-4 has been proposed to release as the variety for
commercial cultivation/or the hills and clone C/P 389746.2/or terai ofNepal, respectively.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=1635 Field Performance of Two Promising Potato Clones in the Hills and Terai of Nepal [printed text] / BB Khatri, Author ; D. Title : Pericholi: a Promising Potato Cultivar for Mid Hills of Mid Western Region of Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: Regmi, H.N., Author Pagination: 238-240 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: genotypes, mid western hills, pericholi, potato, tuber yield, Abstract: To initiate potato research and select suitable variety, which might fit in the existing cropping.
patterns af the mid hills of mid western region, potato cultivars were evaluated in two
consecutive years (200012001 and 2001/2002) at Agriculture Research Station (ARS), Dailekh.
Recommended package of practices were followed for the experiments. Statistically significant
results were obtained in both the year for tested parameters. Results revealed that BW-9 was
the top tuber yielder (32.0 mtlha) among the tested cultivars in first year followed by Periclwli
(29.6 mtlha), whereas in second year, Pericltoli gave highest tuber yield (27.5 mt/lra) followed
by Kufri Ashoka (22.9 mtlha). BW-9, the top yielder in first year was the second lowest tuber
yielder in second year. It suggested that Pericholi was the consistent with respect to tuber yield
among the tested cultivars.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=503 Pericholi: a Promising Potato Cultivar for Mid Hills of Mid Western Region of Nepal [printed text] / Regmi, H.N., Author . - [s.d.] . - 238-240 p.

Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Cole crops, hills, status Abstract: To understand the current practices of nursery and cultivation of cauliflower and cabbage in hills, surveys were carried out in different semi-commercial vegetable crops growing areas of Ilam, Terhathum, Dhankuta, Makawunpur, Kaski and Parbat districts. Farmers of the mid and high hills were only interested to grow the cole crops during off-season (April-October) period. Because of three to five times higher market prices than that of winter season production of these crops, farmers have been extending the cultivation area and also altering the cultivation practices…...
