Abstract: |
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different ratios of effective microorganisms (EM) on the performance of Giriraja layers at poultry research farm of Regional Agriculture Research Station, Tarahara, Sunsari. Six month old Giriraja layers having uniform weight were divided into four groups of 18 birds each viz. control (T1) and three treatments (T2, T3 and T4). Birds of control group were fed plain drinking water (without EM) and the rest treatment groups T2, T3 and T4 were supplied EM in drinking water at the ratio of 1:1000, 1:3000 and 1:5000, respectively. Performance parameters were recorded and analyzed. The results showed that there was significant effect of EM administration dose (p<0.05) on egg production of Giriraja chickens. The egg weight gain was found higher in EM treated groups but no significantly different among the treatment groups. Fertility and hatchability were found higher in treated groups but no significant differences among the treatments during the entire period. The supplementation of EM in drinking water of Giriraja at the ratio of 1:3000 is recommended for best economical operation and general well being of the birds. |
