Title : Botrytis gray mold of chickpea in Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: S Joshi, Author Pagination: 129-131 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Botrytis gray mold (BGM) is a major disease of chickpea. The disease is prevalent throughout the chickpea growing areas. Incidence and severity of the disease are more in eastern Terai than western Terai. Up to 100% yield loss is reported due to BGM in experimental plots. The annual yield loss in farmers' fields is about 15%. The disease generally appears from second to third week of February. None of the chickpea genotypes so far tested was resistant to this disease. Genotypes ICCL 87305, ICCL 87322, ICCV 92501 and ICCV 88506 were tolerant. An experiment with four sowing dates were and 5 chickpea varieties showed that delay sowing (November 25 and December 3) could reduce disease intensity but without increase in yield. Spraying of fungicide Ronilan was more effective in susceptible cultivar H 208 than in tolerant cultivar ICCL 87322. The wider spacing scored less disease and high yield was recorded………..

Title : Evaluation of Lentil (Lens culinaris L.) Genotypes to fusarium wilt Material Type: printed text Authors: S Joshi, Author ; Maharjan, R, Author Pagination: 33-40 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Vascular wilt of lentil is one of the major diseases of lentil causing significant yield reduction. Eighty-four lentil genotypes were screened under wilt sick plot during the winter season of 2001/2002 at Khumaltar and Nepalgunj, and 2000/2001 at Khumaltar. Twenty-seven genotypes and 3 genotypes were found resistant and moderately …………………………….

Title : Identifying sources of resistance to major diseases of lentil Material Type: printed text Authors: D.B. Gharti, Author ; S Joshi, Author ; Darai, R., Author ; T.N Ghimire, Author ; M.B Chadaro, Author Pagination: 337-344 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: AUDPC, Interaction, Phosphorus, Potash, Spot blotch, Wheat Abstract: This study was undertaken with a view to identify stempbylium blight (Stemphy/ium botryosum Wair.) and wilt (Fusarium orysporum fsp. lentis Vasudeva and Srinivasan)/root rot (mainly species of Rhizoctonia and Fusarium ) resistant/ tolerant genotypes of lentil under field condition. Two different nurseries viz. stemphylium blight screening nursery and wilt/root rot screening nursery were conducted in rod row design between 2007/08 and 2009/10 at Nepalgunj and Rampur. Stemphylium blight nursery comprised of 121 genotypes including checks while wilt/root rot screening nursery consisted of 42 lentil genotypes.....................
