Title : Challenges of fish feed management for intensive aquaculture development in Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: J.D. Bista, Author ; N.K. Ray, Author ; Shrestha, R.K., Author ; A.P Nepal, Author ; P Surendra, Author ; D.P Sharma, Author Pagination: 326-332 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: There have been concentrated researches on cost effective quality fish feed for all age group of cultured fish species for intensive aquaculture. Although the nutritional requirement and standardization of some feed formula for trout already has been categorized for all age groups but the least cost quality feed production is the main challenging task. Feeding behavior and feed of indigenous fishes like Sahar has also been assessed and formulated. The major constraint in animal husbandry including aquaculture is the feed cost which occupied more than 70% of total production cost. To reduce the price of a well balanced feed, locally available ingredients should be included in the feed, especially agricultural by-products. Being an agricultural country, Nepal has a number of agricultural by-products that can be used as animal feed……………………

Title : Cryopreservation and its implication for fish seed production Material Type: printed text Authors: Basnet, S.R., Author ; Lamsal, G.P., Author ; A.P Nepal, Author Pagination: 418-421 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Cryopreservation, fish seed production Abstract: The present study describes method for cryopreservation of milt of carps, indigenous Sahar (Tor putitora) and rainbow trout (Onchorynchus mykiss) for a period of 2-4 days. For collection of milt healthy and robust male with best characteristic were selected, wiped with clean and soft cloth. The milt was collected by stripping the belly.
