Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Cucumber genotypes, plastic house, powdery mildew, downy mildew Abstract: Field experiments were conducted to find out the response of different cucumber genotypes for cultivation under plastic house and open field in outreach site of Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Lumle at Hemja, Kaski during February and April planting seasons of 2004/05. Ten exotic and indigenous cucumber genotypes were tested in two planting dates; first on February and second on April in open field and under plastic house. The genotypes Mahyco Green Long (2807 kg/ropani) and Bhaktpur Local (2748. 5 kg/ropani) were recommended for both plastic house and open field conditions due to their higher yield for February planting…………………

Title : Identification of suitable approaches for controlling blue mould disease in cellar store Material Type: printed text Authors: K. P. Upadhyay, Author ; Paudel, K.B., Author ; Gautam, I.P., Author ; Sah, D.N., Author ; J.N Chaudhary, Author ; B Khatri, Author Pagination: 294-301 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: An experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station. Lumle during 2001/2002 to find out the effectiveness of fruit stalk, yellowness and chemicals for controlling blue mould disease in mandarin orange in cellar store. This experiment was conducted in a three-factor RCBD with three replications. Twenty treatments were set with 20 fruits for each treatment. Observations were recorded on the number of healthy fruits at different intervals (30, 40, 60, 70, 100 and 120 days after storage).Fruits infected with blue mould were avoided after the disease occurrence. Fruits were kept in the cellar store for 120 days. After 120 days, total juice, equatorial and polar diameters, the TSS and TA %, were recorded. The application of acetic acid fumigation @ 2.Sµl/liter of water on the stalked fruits with 50% yellow color was found better for controlling blue mould in cellar store. Similarly, the by dipping the fruits for ten minutes in garlic extract (1% solution) was also found effective in controlling the blue mould for long term storage ( 120 days).

Title : Performance of vegetable soybean in the hills of Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: Paudel, K.B., Author ; J.N Chaudhary, Author ; Yadav, Y.P., Author ; Gautam, I.P., Author ; K.P Upadhyay, Author ; B Khatri, Author Pagination: 244-248 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Economic traits, hilly areas, vegetable soybean Abstract: Elite genotypes of vegetable soybean were introduced from Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVROC), Taiwan and were evaluated under Co-ordinaled Varietal trials (CVT) at Agriculture Research Station (ARS), Lumle and Horticulture Research Division (HRD), Khumaltar during 2000 and 2001. Enough variability was found in plant height, days to harvest, marketable fresh pod yield, total biomass, 100-green seed weight and resistant to powdery mildew. The performance of genotypes in economic traits, were almost similar in all tested locations. Considering overall performance, marketable fresh pod yield per day per hectare, 100-green seed weight and resistant to powdery mildew, the vegetable soybean genotype AGS-352 was superior to rest of the tested genotypes.
