Title : Agro-forestry land use for sustainable crop production, adaptation and mitigation of climate change effect Material Type: printed text Authors: T.B. Ghimire, Author Pagination: 65-70 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Agro-forestry is a collective name for land-use systems and technologies in which woody perennials including trees, shrubs, bamboos etc. are deliberately combined on the same land- management unit with herbaceous crops or animals either in some form of spatial arrangement or temporal sequence. Ecologically sound agro-forestry system such as inter- cropping and mixed arable livestock systems can increase the sustainability of agricultural production. Agro-forestry is a useful path, complementary to chemical fertilizers to enhance soil fertility. This system can contribute to soil fertility improvement through increasing the quality and quantity of fodder and hence livestock manure, providing biomass for composting and slowing the loss of nutrients through run-off. Agro-forestry is a age old practices in Nepal and farmers have been practicing this model in different agro-ecological zones. Home garden is most popular agro-forestry model compared to other practices in Nepal…………………
