Title : Grain losses in the field and the storage due to rats in kathmandu valley Material Type: printed text Authors: P.D Dhaubaji Shrestha, Author Pagination: 176-179 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Grain loss assessment in the field and the storage due to rats in three villages of Kathmandu valley was made during 1995-97. The movement of house rat in rice and wheat fields from farmers' houses was found up to 100 and 150 m, respectively. In the standing crops of rice and wheat the damage caused by the rats was estimated 575 kg/ha and 1132 kg/ha, respectively. The bait consumption was 9.4, 17.0, 19.0 and 25 gm/rat/night in spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively………………

Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Reproductive biology of house rat (Rattus rattus) was studied under laboratory conditions at Khumaltar during 1995-97. Successful mating was found up to 90, 80, 90 and 70% in spring, summer, autumn and winter season, respectively. Gestation period was 20-23 days with the birth rate of 4-13 and sex ratio of 1:1. Male rat became sexually matured 11 weeks after birth while it took 13 weeks for female rat. Among tested diets continuous feeding of rat with K-diet-1+cod liver oil up to 55 weeks was found superior to increase body weight. The relation of dry weight of eye Jens was found directly proportional to the age of the rats.

Title : Sterlity management of house rat(Rattus Rattus) Population Using Botanicals Material Type: printed text Authors: P.D Dhaubaji Shrestha, Editor Publication Date: 2010 Pagination: 429-441 p. Abstract: An experiment on sterility of house rat (Rattus rattus) was conducted during the year 2004-2006 in Entomology Division Khumaltar
in laboratory condition. Four botanicals namely Neem (Azadriracthta indica L. Juss) seed powder, Custard apple (Annona reticulata
L) seed powder and Gorkhmundi (Sphaeranthus indica L) flower were tested by mixing@ 100 g per Kg and Neem oil@ 20 ml. per
Kg in normal diet. The treatments were replicated four times. The treated diet was fed @ 80 gm per day per pair of rats. On the
analysis of two years data, Neem seed powder, Neem oil and Custard apple seed powder found effective by checking pregnancy for
one year, whereas Gorkhmundi flower powder could not be able to check the pregnancy.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=1049 Sterlity management of house rat(Rattus Rattus) Population Using Botanicals [printed text] / P.D Dhaubaji Shrestha, Editor . - 2010 . - 429-441 p.
