Abstract: |
A long term (2001-2004) field experiment was conducted on sandy clay loam soil with acidic soil reaction to study the effect of organic manure, chemical fertilizer and combination of both organic manure and fertilizer on soil chemical properties at South farm (.Kholitar) of ARS Pakhribas, Dhankuta at an altitude of 1420 mas! under rice wheat cropping system with various treatment combinations including FYM, chemical fertilizer, combination of FYM and fertilizer both at full and half doses. The soil reaction was found buffered in the soil treated with organic manure at full dose and the soil turned more acidic when treated with chemical fertilizer at full dose. Application of both organic manure and fertilizer at full dose showed higher organic matter content in the soil. The nitrogen content in the surface soil was found high both in organic manure treated soil as well as combination of organic manure and fertilizer at full dose. Application of full dose of nutrients through organic manure recorded significantly higher phosphorus content in the surface soil. However, the potassium content in the surface soil was not found consistent throughout the period of investigation. |
