Abstract: |
Mustard aphid is the most serious pest of rapeseed-mustard causing substantial yield losses. To find out the suitable aphid management practices, a set of experiments were conducted at ORP Saralahi. To escape the rape seed crop from mustard aphid, date of seeding trial was conducted since last three years and it was concluded that 9th October was regarded as appropriate seeding time for Brassica campestris var. toria. To find out the sources of resistance to mustard aphid 104,120 and 162 gemplasms of Brassica oilcrops were evaluated under field condition during the fiscal year of 1995/96,1996/97 and 1997/98 respectively. Twelve genotypes on B.campestris var. toria. Six on B. juncea and one genotype on B. campestris var. sarson were found tolerant to mustard aphid. Four bio-pest.ic.ides and five botanical rnaterials were tested to findout the alternative solut.ion to control mustard aphids. Among bio-pesticides, accephate was encouraging to control the pest (77% aphid mortality ). In bolanical materials , tobacco leaves were found good to control mustard aphid (96% aphid mortalitya) with better yield performance. |
