Title : Performance of rainfed lowland medium rice in tropical region of Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: Sah, S.N., Editor ; Akhtar, T. ; Mishra, K.K., Author ; G Thakur, Author Pagination: 214-222 p. Abstract: Limited area is under irrigation in Nepal. Rainfed lowland rice is major ecosystem of rice farming
however farmer's varietal choice is not enough. The objective of this study was to identify the
varieties suitable for rainfed lowland areas. International Rainfed Lowland Observation Nursery
(IRLON), Initial Evaluation Trial on Rainfed Lowland Medium {IETRLM), Coordinated Varietal
Trials on Rainfed Lowland Medium (CVTRLM) and Coordinated Farmers Field Trials on Rainfed
Lowland Medium (CFFTRLM) were conducted during 2009 and 2010. IR 80461-B-79-3, IR 80408-

traits in IETRLM where 28 and 36 entries were evaluated in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Including
checks 16 and 24 entries were evaluated in CVTRLM in 2009 and 2010 respectively. According to

Languages : English (eng) Abstract: A total of 130 entries were evaluated in three activities under the project varietal
improvement works for Fine Grain and Aromatic Rice. Activities Fine grain Aromatic
Rice observation Nursery, Initial evaluation trial, Coordinated varietal trial and
Coordinated Farmers' field trial were conducted during 2002 and 2003. CNTLR 85033-
9-3-1-1 was preferred by most of farmers due to yield and quality ofrice. Among the
tested entries in Initial evaluation trial, IR71705-31-1-3-2 was highest yielder during
2002 and IR72860-107-3-1-2 during 2003. In coordinated varietal trial the top three
yielder were PR 30220-1-1-1, CNTLR 85085-78-1-1-1 and IR 65610-105-2-5-2-2-2
during 2002 and IR 1704-21-2-1-3,IR 72870-102-2-2-1-3 and IR 72876-62-2-2-2 during
2003. In International Fine Grain and Aromatic Rice observation Nursery 45 genetically
diverse entries were tested with four international checks. Out of them 16 were found
stron_gly aromatic, 17- aromatic and 9- were non-aromatic at Hardinath.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=1084 Rice varietal improvement works for fine grain and aromatic rice [printed text] / Akhtar, T. ; G Thakur, Author ; R.K Rajak, Author ; SP Ghimire, Author . - [s.d.] . - 33-40 p.

Languages : English (eng) Abstract: A total of 367 entries were evaluated in six activities under the project varietal
improvement works for irrigated normal condition during 2002 and 2003. The main
activities were International Irrigated Rice observation Nursery, National Irrigated Rice
observation Nursery, Initial Evaluation Trial-N. Coordinated Varietal Trial CVT-N and
farmer's field Trial. The International Irrigated observation Nursery with 100 entries
including 2 local check along with 3 standard check were conducted at Rice Research
