Abstract: |
An observation trial was conducted at Rohun alpine pasture at 3800m altitude. This pasture land is grazed for 2-3 months in the summer by sheep, goats, buffalo and cattle. The purpose of the trial was to identify thebotanical composition, the biomass production and the proximate analysis of the forage. Ten species of grass were identified but no legumes were found. Biomass production was found to be 2.4 MTDM/ha in August, and 2.1 MTDM/ha in September. Protein content of the pasture was higher when harvested in August (10.89%) as compared to thatharvested in September (9.52%). |
