Abstract: |
The study was carried out during · tw~ consecutive year 2003 and 4004 at Regfona! . Agricultural Research Station, Khajura, _.Banke,· to identify appropriate planting. ifiiies. of . ._· .,. onion sets 'tor off-season bulb production. The experiment was .laid out in Random(zed: Complete Blor.k Design ~ith four planting d_ates (i.e . .- _ 1ffh~· 2~; · 3cl' AugiJsi ·and if!! September) and replicated five times. Sets planted ~n ·August 2~, produced highest · bulb yield ?24.53 t ha -1 ) followed by August 30 planting (22.7B·t ha ' 1 ). The lowest bulbs" yield (15.31 t ha -1 ) was obtained from August 16 planting: Minlmum·of 2-3 percent bulb splittin. g was observed wfiich "w·-as due to proper size of sets. The results indicated tha·t, . . the ·fast fort night of August was the optimum time of set planting for western Tarai. conditions. |
