Title : Assessment of Fruit Characteristics Variations in Nepalese Hog Plum (Lapsi) (Choerospondias axillaris, Roxb) Fruits Material Type: printed text Authors: Tek P. Gotame, Author Pagination: 68-70 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Diversity, lapsi, peel, pulp, quality Abstract: A study was conducted to assess the extent of fruit quality variations . in
Choerospondias axillaries (Roxb) fruits in periurban areas of Kathmandu valley durmg
November 2004 to March 2005. Laboratory analysis was undertaken to evaluate the
fruit quality parameters at Horticulture Research Division, Khumaltar. Numbers of fruits
per kg sample, fruit shape and size, fruit weight, pulp to seed and pulp to peel ratio
were assessed. It was found that Nuwakot and Pharping lapsi have the largest fruit
weight (14.4 & 14.1 gm respectively) and diameter (2.9 em). The smallest sized fruit
was found from Godawari VDC-7. Fruits of Pharping had the highest peel and pulp
weight but the maximum seed weight was found in fruits collected from Ramkot-3. It is
concluded that there is variation in fruit quality characteristics in Lapsi. Research
regarding identification from boarder areas should be undertaken and economically
better lines should be selected using molecular technology for commercial farming to
make economically viable agro processing industries in Nepal.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=206 Assessment of Fruit Characteristics Variations in Nepalese Hog Plum (Lapsi) (Choerospondias axillaris, Roxb) Fruits [printed text] / Tek P. Gotame, Author . - [s.d.] . - 68-70 p.
