with the objective of characterization and evaluation of productive and reproductive
performances of Sinha! and Chyangra goat in western and mid western region. Using the
structured questionnaire and format developed by FAO for goat breed characterization a
survey was made in 1999. Parameters included were body parts measurements and production
traits observation. Results showed that Sinha! and Chyangra goats are black in color but
sometimes white and brown patches are frequent. The average mean of barrel girth, loin girth,
body length, height at Mp bone, height at wither and heart girth was found higher for female
than male (55. 09; 65.80; 55.50; 53.27,· 53.24 and 63.13 em, respectively). Mean of the age at
puberty, age at first kidding and kidding interval of Sinha! goats in Mugu, Jumla and Dolpa
districts were 12. OJ ; 19.16 and 9.58 months, respectively. The age at first ·work and last work
ofmale Chyangra was observed almost same as Sinha! (24.04 and 72.33 months, respectively).
Mean Slaughter age and slaughter weightfor Sinha! was observed 27.65 months and 25.09 kg,
