characterisation and evaluation of productive pe1:(ormance of Gaddi bL({falo in the far
western region. Using the sn·uctured questionnaire a survey was made in 199 7.
Parameters included were body paris measurements and production trairs. Results
revealed that Gaddi buffaloes are black in colour with ·white round patches on the
forehead. They have a long face and flat head with long ha(f-curved horns.
Morphological growth and production pe1:(ormance of Gaddi buffaloes appeared to be
better than Lime and Terai bt!{faloes and similar with rhat of j\tfurrah. They are a good
milk yielder (a boll/ 3 litres milk /day/animal) with a lactation length of more than a year.·
