Languages : English (eng) Abstract: This study was conducted to find out the appropriate season of cah·ing in 1ern1S of growth
rate of calves. FourfJ-five calves born at Bo,·ine Research Program Khumaltar in 20j.J,tjj
and jj/j6 in d([{ere111 seasons were recorded. They were grouped into -1 seasonal group A. B.
C and D (Baisakh 'tO Ashad. Srcnrcm to Aswin. Karlik and Poush and lvfagh to Chaitra)
respectively. Among the -lj calves 16. 10. 13 and 6 calves ·were recorded in group A. B. C.
and D respectively. Higher gro\l ·th rate was observed in group C (} 07 kg of total body
weight) at the age of 6 months. The lower growth rate was recorded in group A ('6.1 kg c~r
total body weight). It is necessGIJ' to observe co111inuously the age at f irst calving and the
adult body weight size of the calves.EFFECT OF CALVING SEASON ON THE GROWTH RATE OF CROSSBRED CALVES [printed text] / K. P. Shiwakoti, Author ; Kuwar, B.S., Author ; Shrestha, H.R., Author . - [s.d.] . - 226-228 p.

Title : Effect Of Early Weaning On The Growth Rate Of Male Buffalo Calves Material Type: printed text Authors: K. P. Shiwakoti, Author ; Shrestha, H.R., Author ; M. S. Thapa, Author ; B. B. Gurung, Author Pagination: 79-81 p. Languages : English (eng) Abstract: Production system of buffalo is different from place to place. In some places, Farmers
provide one teat to the calf for whole lactation. Whereas in some places, for the male calves
either they thrown away or keep in force mortality management system for more milk
production. In both the cases there is economic losses. So this study was conducted to find
out the effect of early weaning in the growth rate of buffalo Calves.
From the study on the growth rate of male buffalo calves up to the age of 18 months, it was
found that weaning at 3 months of age is more effective in comparison to other male calves
group of 4 months, 5 months and 6 months over. It sholl'ed that it is not necessmy to
provide one teat suckling for whole lactation. Af."'r three months of lactation more milk
could be saved for human consumption. It could meet the cost of feed plus economy benefit.
In other hand those who throw away the male cah es or keep in forced mortality for more
milk production can be raised for meat production or fattening without any reduction on
milk production.Effect Of Early Weaning On The Growth Rate Of Male Buffalo Calves [printed text] / K. P. Shiwakoti, Author ; Shrestha, H.R., Author ; M. S. Thapa, Author ; B. B. Gurung, Author . - [s.d.] . - 79-81 p.
