Title : CIP 392222.25: A Promising Potato Clone for Karnali Region of Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: R. K. Giri, Author ; Subedi, G.D., Author ; D. B. Kathayat, Author ; S Gautam, Author ; P.B. Paneru, Author Publication Date: 2015 Article on page: 50-54 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: Clone, drought, Karnali region, RCBD, tuber yield, Abstract: Farmers’ Field Trial (FFT) on Potato was carried out for four consecutive
years (2007/2008 to 2012/13) in order to identify suitable clones with good
plant uniformity, tuber color, shape, drought, pest and diseases tolerant, high
productivity and suitable for the Karnali region of Nepal. Based on the results
and farmer’s preference, clone 392222.25 is identified as high yielding drought
tolerant variety, thus selected and recommended for cultivation in the Karnali
region of Nepal.

Title : Study on Off-Season Onion Production in River-Basin Environment of Mid and Far-Western Regions of Nepal Material Type: printed text Authors: B. B. Rokaya, Author ; K. B. Bhandari, Author Pagination: 367-372 p. Languages : English (eng) Keywords: mid western region, onion varieties , off season, sets Abstract: A study was carried out to verify the off season onion bulb production technology through
set to raise the income and economic status of the onion growing farmers, during the year
2000/0I and 200I/02, at both on-station and onjanns conditions. Four cultivars of the
normal season onion were tested with 6 replications, in Randomized Complete Block Design.
For both on-station and onjarm experimellts onion sets were produced at ARS, Surkhet.
Among the tested cultivars Pusa Red was found good yielder for set production and matured
at about I40 DAS. Whereas Nasik Red-53 was found about two weeks earlier among other
tested cultivars. In case of offseason onion bulb production, Nasik La/ has performed the
best and produced the highest bulb yields (7864 Kglha), in the year 2000101, whereas Nasik
Red-53 produced the highest bulb yield (5.8I4 Kglha) in the year 200I/02. In case of onfarm
experiment. first year onjarm result showed that Nasik La/ was rite best yielder ( 12238
Kg/ha) among the tested varieties, followed by Nasik Red-53 ( II829 Kg/ha). In the second
year (2001102) onjarm result showed that in all the locations of Surkltet, Dailekh and Doti
Districts. Nasik Red-53 was the best yielder among all the tested cultivars. Therefore the
above study of off-season onion bulb production through sets has identified Nasik Red-53 as
the suitable variety for bulb as·well as for fresh vegetable. Adoption of this identified variety
will be a new income generative farm enterprise because of the high price for bulb as well as
fresh leafy vegetable during the lean period.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=577 Study on Off-Season Onion Production in River-Basin Environment of Mid and Far-Western Regions of Nepal [printed text] / B. B. Rokaya, Author ; K. B. Bhandari, Author . - [s.d.] . - 367-372 p.
