Title : Varietal improvement work on Niger (Guizotia abyssinica) Material Type: printed text Authors: Chaudhary, B.P., Author ; T.B Ghimire, Author Publisher: Lalitpur : NARC Publication Date: 2000 Pagination: 135-143 p. Keywords: Grain legumes; Oil crops; Research; Legumes Abstract: Niger (Guizotia abyi..vinica) is a minor oilseed ~rop in Nepal. It is mostly grown itt mid-hills
<.md in terai along east west highway in marginal and sub-marginal land by using very
limited input. Improved culliwu of niger has not been released and recommended so far.
Hence, varietru selection work is in progress at Oilseed Research Progrnm, Nawalpur,
Sarlahi. Out of 87 'genotypes ev<.tluated in Obsen•ation Nursery, 15 genotypes was found
11igh yielding(> 600 kg/ba). In Initial Evaluation Trial, ACC#536l (408 kg/Ita), ACC#5360
(345 kg/Ita), ACC#5320 (324 kg/Ita), ACC#5356 .(323kgllm) .and AC~#610l (320 kg/1m)
were id<mtified high yielding compared to Sarlah.i local (261 kg/Ita). In Advanced Varietal
Trial, ACC#5355 was found high yielding (346 kg/Ita) followed by ACC#5361 (316 kg/Ita)
mtd NS -.1 (268 kg/Ita). While Sarlahi local produced 117-kg seed llta.Link for e-copy: http://elibrary.narc.gov.np/?r=569 Varietal improvement work on Niger (Guizotia abyssinica) [printed text] / Chaudhary, B.P., Author ; T.B Ghimire, Author . - Lalitpur : NARC, 2000 . - 135-143 p.

Rokaya ; R.R Sah, Author Publisher: Sarlahi : NORP Publication Date: 2000 Pagination: 23-31 p. Keywords: Brassica rapa; campestris; Yields; Field experimentation; Genotypes; Oil crops Abstract: Yellow sarson (Brassica compestrisvar.yellowsarson) is one of the oilseedcropsof Nepal. Field experiment namely observation nursery(OBN), and Initial evaluation trial (IET) were carried out atOilseed Research Program(ORP) and coordinated varietal trial(CVT) was conductedat OilseedResearch ProgramNawalpur,Regional gricultureResearch Stations (RARS)ParwanipurandNepalgunj in 1996/97 and 1997/98 to evaluate the performance of sarson lines. In observationnursery, LSS-S4-2,LSS-S4-Iand Acc#5735 produced BOOkg, 600kg, and427kg seed/ha respectively. In lET, ICS-9110 produced highest seed yield of 762kg/ha.Incoordinated varietal trial(CVT) S-4producedhighest seed yield of 72lkg/ha.
