Late sown irrigated wheat i n Terai, tars and lower valley is normally due to the delay in rice harvesting because of the late maturing rice varieties, shortage of labors during the rice harvesting time (long turnover time) and excessive soil moisture that delays land preparation for wheat planting. Late heat stress on wheat is due to the high temperatures, westerly hot winds and it adversely affects the grain filling, grain size and quality and thus reduces the grain yield…………………………… |
