Abstract: |
The extent of wheat sterility problem in the western hills of Nepal and all the possible causes of sterility have been reviewed The sterility problem has been increasingly observed both in rice-wheat system in irrigated lands and maize-wheat system in the uplands. The extents of losses were as high as 98% under severe conditions. Though the problem is caused by several factors of the environments in various combinations, however the low available boron, and low temperatures during the flowering period have been established as two most important factors. Boron availability is thought to be affected by several other factors such as water stress, alkalinity and low nutrition especially nitrogen……………………….. |
