Altogether 219 crosses, including 134 single and 85 top and multiple were made for specific purposes during 1994/95 wheat season at NWRP, Bhairahawa. For this, a crossing block, comprising of 426 entries including 147 local landraces were planted in two planting dates to facilitate the crossing work. Genetic variability for leaf and stripe rust resistance, Helminthosporium leaf blight, loose smut, resistance and heat and drought tolerance were created utilizing specific donor parents…………………………… |
