Modern cage culture in Nepal has a history of about 30 years. During this period, cage culture became an indispensible part of fisheries on lakes of Pokhara valley and Kulekhani reservoir. Cage culture of carp is considered a major step towards the utilization of natural water fisheries management for increased production. This sub-sector plays a key role in provision of protein food, poverty alleviation of dependent community and reduction of fishing pressure in capture fisheries……………….. |
