Abstract: |
A three year (2008-2010) collaborative study was conducted on response of organic manures on fresh cherry yield of coffee at Agriculture Research Station (Horticulture), Malepatan, Pokhara. Farm yard manure (FYM), pig litter, mustard oil cake and poultry manure were evaluated on four coffee varieties (Pacamara, Pacas, Tekisic and Chhetradeep). Poultry manure @ 5 t ha-1 gave the highest fresh cherry yield (1805.85 kg ha-1) followed by mustard oil cake @ 2.5 t ha-1 (1731.83 kg ha-1), pig litter @ 10 t ha-1 (1538.24 kg ha-1) and FYM @10 t ha-1 (1458.77 kg ha-1). However, the differences were not significant. The highest mean yield of fresh cherry (2290.14 kg ha-1) was found in ‘Tekisic’ variety followed by Chhetradeep (1683.76 kg ha-1), Pacas (1520.12 kg ha-1) and Pacamara (1040.66 kg ha-1). The ‘Tekisic’ variety and ‘Chhetradeep’ (locally grown coffee) recorded as promising coffee varieties for the fresh cherry production under Malepatan conditions. |
