Efficacy of commercially available safe pesticides: Derusom, Agri-Servo, Margosom, Ramban (biopesticide), OSHIN; chemical pesticide: Thiodan, and locally available products: Cattle urine and Geeti-Mal (fermented cocktail mixture of botanicals with cattle urine)were tested against cabbage aphids in cauliflower crops at Khumaltar, Lalitpur in the year 2009 and 2010. The study revealed that OSHIN 20% WP @ 0.4 g/liter water was found as effective as the Thiodan 35% EC @ 1.5 ml/liter against cabbage aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae L.). Application of Derusom, Agri-Servo, Margosom and cattle urine was not found effective to suppress aphid population in the cole crops, however, application of Geeti-Mal, AgriServo, Ramban were found better than control (water spray). Application of Geeti-Mal caused yellow patches on the leaf surface.
