Abstract: |
For evaluation of turmeric (Curcuma Iongo L.) genotypes for mid and far western terai of Nepal, a study was carried out at the Regional Agriculture Research Station Khajura, Nepalgunj during the year 2008/09 and 2009110 .Eight genotypes of turmeric namely C/9701, C/9801, C/9803, C/9804, C/9807, C/9808, C/0209, Pokhara sano were evaluated in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 3 replications. Fertilizers were applied @75:50:50 kglha (NPK) and 30tlha compost. Observations of growth and yield attributing characters were taken. The rhizome yield in genotypes C/9803 (20.75tlha) and C/0209 (19.82tlha) were respectively higher than other tested genotypes where as lowest rhizome yield was recorded in C/9807 (14.20tlha). On the basis of the results obtained, it can be concluded that genotype C/9803 and C/0209 of turmeric was promising for cultivation in mid and far western terai of Nepal. However it requires further investigation. For recommendation |
