Abstract: |
Goats are important livestock commodities in Nepalese farming communities. Majority of rural population depends on goats for meat, milk, manure, Chyangra Pashmina, and pack use in the high mountain. They are popular for income generation and known as "Living Bank of Poor" in rural areas of Nepal. Species is popular as PEWA among the women. Every rural household keeps 2-5 goats while this number increases to 8-10 heads in potential pocket area. Goat production in the country is not adequate to fulfill the demand of meat and subsequently every year large number of goats, more than 400000 heads, is imported from the neighboring countries such as from India and China……………….. |
