Alternaria leaf blight caused by Alternaria brassicae is one of the economically important diseases of rapeseed. The pathogen infects stem, leaf, siliqua and seed causing significant losses in seed yield. An experiment for reducing severity of infection in the crop was conducted during 1996 and 1997. The disease was significantly reduced by the application of iprodione (Rovral) and mancozeb (Dithane M-45) over control. A correlation was measured between field infection and seed infection. The correlation was positive and highly significant which shows that percent of seed infection with A. brassicae depends upon the severity of infection in the field.
