Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important summer oilcrop of Nepal.  The total area under this crop  is  ctbout 7000 ha. Varietal improvement work was initiated by Oilseed Research'Program (ORP) in late  seventies. An observation nursery on groundnut was carried out at ORP with 40 lines.  ICGV-93383 produced highest pod yield of 2025 kg/ha. An International trial on medium duration groundnut varietal trial spanish bunch (IMGVT-SB)   was carried out with 16 varieties. ICGV-89356 produced highest pod yield of 4694  kg/ha. In International medium duration groundnut varietal trial-virginia type ( IMGVT- VB),     ICGV-86201   produced highest pod   yield (5667    kg/ha).  In Co-ordinated varietal trial on groundnut early type  (CVT-E), ICGV-86124  and ICGV-86125 produced 1634 kg and 1469 kg pod/ha respectiveiy which is at par with B-4. In Coordinated varietal trial normal maturing type (CVT-N)ICGV-88473 produced highest seed yield of 1797 kg pod/ha.
