Abstract: |
In order to improve the yield potentials of rice in the western hills of Nepal, different field experiments were conducted during 2000- 2001 in Regional Agriculture Research Station rRA.RS) Lumle's Reseai·ch Command Area (RCA). Advanced breeding lines were evaluated in mid to high hills for their cold tolerance ability. A few selected lines were evaluated under farmers' field conditions and the farmers 'perception on the improved genotypes was taken into consideration. Based on tlze overall results and feedbacks from farmers, genotypes Lumle 1-9-1, LR 93002 and Lumle 1-1-1 were found better for quantitative and qualitative traits with grain yield more than 5 tlha. These new lines are superior to local and standard (Chhomrong) checks in all respects and have widely been accepted by farmers. |
