Abstract: |
Toria (Brassica campestris var. toria) is the most important oilseed crop of Nepal occupying about 90% of the total oilcrops area. Limited availability and adoption of improved varieties could be one of the prime reason for low productivity of toria in particular and oilseeds as whole. Varietal improvement work has been carried out since Oilseed Research Program (ORP) came into existence. An Observation Nursery was planted in 1997 /98 at Oilseed Research Program with 39 lines. Out of them Acc.# 1701 produced 417 kg/ha. In Initial Evaluation Trial (IET), highest seed yield was produced by ICT 9123 (830 kg/ha.) The two years (1996/97-1997/98) data on mean seed yield in CVT showed that PT-30 produced highest seed yield of 838 kg/ha. While the check, variety Pragati produced 829 kg/ha. |
