Abstract: |
Livestock is an integral part of agriculture in Nepal . It has significant role in the Nepal's economy. In 1984/85, it has contributed about 17% of the total gross domestic product (GDP) in the form of milk, meat, egg, ghee, woo hides and skin, and 28% in the total agricultural GDP. About 20% of the total cattle population and 1% of the buffalo population are unproductive. Besides, the livestock consumes most of its energy in the search of food for maintenances than to production. The improved methods of livestock raising adopted in Nepal are, animal health, breeding, nutrition and management practices. |
