Abstract: |
Observation nursery, initial evaluation trial, coordinated varietal trial, farmers field trial on cowpea were conducted during 1999/2000 and 2000/01 to select early maturing, high yielding and disease resistant/tolerant genotypes for di.fferent agro climatic domains. Grain yield of the crop dijfered significantly among the genotypes and locations in coordinated varietal trial in 199912000. Highest and lowest grain yield was produced at Surkhet (1238 kgha-1) and Nepalgunj (667 /cgha-1 ) respectively. Genotype IT 86D-792 (1205/cgha-1) had significantly higher grain yield across the location as compared to both Aalcash (971 /cgha-1) and Prakash (917 /cgha-1 ). Average grain yield of all genotypes was found the highest at Rampur (751k§ha-1 during 2000101). Genotypes IT86 D-792 (871 kgha-1) and IT 83D-442 (805 lcgha-) produced significantly higher yield than Prakash (524 kgha-1 ). Pooled grain yield over three locations (NGLRP Ramur, RARS Nepalgunj and ARS Surkhet) planted as post rainy season indicated that highest yield was produced by IT 86 D-792 (972 kgha-1 ) Average seef! weight of IT 86D-792 (16.87 g) was higher than Aakash (13.2 g) and Prakash (12.42 g). Combined analysis over year and locations showed that genotype IT 86D-792 (1259 kgha-1 ) yielded the highest grain yield as justified from farmers field trial. So. this genotype is the candidate for release. |
