Abstract: |
A field experimellt was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Surkhet (580 m as/) in four consecutive years ( 1996/1997 to 1999/2000) to find out the appropriate planting date of garlic suitable for foot hills and river basin areas of mid western development region of Nepal. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Melpani local cultivar was planted in ten different dates starting from 18'1 ' September to 3f11 ' January at 15 days intervals. Plot size of 1.5 111 x 1.2 m was mailllained and 120 cloves per plot were pla111ed with spacing of 15 em x 10 em. N. P20 5 and K20 were applied at the rate of 80:30:50 kg/ha supplemented with 20 mtlha compost. Garlic cloves planted on 1 tf1 ' October produced the highest bulb yield (7.6 Mt/ha) followed by 3"1 October (6.9 Mtlha) followed by zod November (6.6 Mtlha) and the lowest bulb yield was recorded from 3f11 ' January ( 1.6 Mtlha). The result of this experiment revealed that 3"1 week of September to l''' week of November was tire most appropriate time of plaming of garlic suitable for foot hills .and river basin areas of mid western development region of Nepal. |
