At Khumaltar, CM9133, SB0085, 04508, Pl200525, Pl200451, 01873,·0757 out yielded the local checks Seti, Sathiya and Ransom in observation nursery (mono). CM 9133, 01873, 01871 and 0757 were 21 and 25% larger in seed size than Seti and Ransom respe~tively. _ TH227, 095W, _090W, 272W, Tanipomas, 08386, 0758 and CM9122 were very small seeded, I 00 seed weighed 8.6 g (5.1-11.9 g). TH227 was earliest in maturity (117 · days). All the .l ocal soybeans: 090W, 272W, 072W an~ 093 were late type (152 days). · . . - . . . ~ . - . . . ~ . Chaing Maw 60-63, tN66, SBOIIS, VLS1, SB006.5, PK416 and SB0103 prpduced ~ed yields of 1.8 to.3.8 tlha .. under monocropping. Chaing Ma~ 60-63, CN60 were comparable with S!tthiya in · seed size and had only 1-2 unfilled. pods/plant. · · · · Experiments (1998/99-99/00) cond~:~cted at Khumaltar showed that CN60, PK327, GC82234-22, Chaing Maw 60-63 and LS-77-16-16 were Pr'omising in maize intercropping in terms of seed yield compared with Sathiya. CN60 and PK327 yielded 590,;{,, 43% higher than Sathiya an~ 36%,_23% higher than Ransom respectively. Seed size of SB0115, CN60,. Chaing Maw 6Q-63 and VLSI were 17-33% larger than Ransom. These genotypes produced 28-48 pods/plant compared with Sathiya (21). Sathiya ~atured in 123 days· while PK416, Chaing Maw 60-63, VLS~, SB0065, SBOIIS and CN60 took 8 to 13 days more. Maize yield, plant height, no. of cobs/plant did not vary among genotypes. In Lunde, CN 60, seOIIS, CM 9133 and Chaing Maw-60-63 were promising ,producing 1.5 ·tO 1.9 tlha of seed yield which was about 27-52% ·higher than. Sathiya local and Ransom. · Combined analysis across locations (Khumal, Kavre, Lumle) showed that the performance of genotypes varied with locations. LS77-16-16, CN60, · Chaing Maw 60-63 and Sathiya performed better at both locations. At Lumle al~o CN60, SBOII5 and ChaingMaw 60-63 performed best . . Sujuyutaka performed very poorly !lt Khumaltar. CN60, Chaing Maw 60-63, VLS1, SB0065 and SBOIIS were 13-30% bigger in seed size than . Ransom but 8-21% small~r ·than Sathiya. Seed size was larger at Kavre compared . with Khumaltar while pod numbers was higher at KhuJY~al. Sujuyutaka was the earliest· in maturity (110 days) followed by Sathiya (116. days) and ~?7-16-16 (124 ·days). Crops took longer to mature (3 ·~eeks) at Khumal compared with Kavre while plant heigh~ (lid riot vary between the two locations. Maize seed yield was not affected by intercropping with soybe...a li genotypes at both locations. · ., ·- . .. Sujuyutaka, Sathiya, Gaoxiong#2, Suaidachung and Huaichin#2 performed better under Khumal, Kavre and Kapurkot (seed yields of 1.80-2.32 tlha). Black local, Suju)'utal:a! and Shinano Aromame were only about 38 em in plant height. Gaoxioog#2 and Suaidachung grew ·taller than Sathiya in ·all ·three locations. Sujl!yutaka matured in 108-days while Huaichin#2 and Gaoxiong#2 took 127-130 days. GenotyPes took longer_ to mature (11 days) in Khumal. · . · · . At Khumaltar, AGS 351, AGS 352, AGS 346, GC 9i019-6-I, GC 92016-12-11, GC 92001-P-25-1 produced fresh pod yield of7.84 to 15.10 tlha, with the 100 fresh seed weight ra·nging from 61.1-84.3 g. At Lumle and its OSR sites, AGS .352, AGS 355, AGS 351 and AGS 333 ·produced the fresh pod yield ranging from 5.1 to 7.0 tlha. |
