Abstract: |
Viral disease problem is one of the constraints in cultivation of pepper in terai, inner terai and foot hills and hills of Nepal. The viral disease problem of pepper is complex, more than one viruses attack simultaneously. With an objective to identify, viral diseases of pepper and their management, disease was surveyed in main pepper growing area in different years and screened for Cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV) and Chilli veinal mottle potyvirus (CVMV). Tomato yellow leaf curl virus {TYLCV) was identified by c DNA hybridization at A VRDC, CMV and CVMV were identified by Double Antibody Sandwich (DAS) ELISA in Plant Pathology Division, Khumaltar. Fifteen pepper lines were screened for CMV and CVMV by artificial inoculation of local isolates in the screen house at Khumaltar. Five and 3 lines respectively were found to be resistant to CMV and CVMV. |
