Abstract: |
A study on fish biodivers!ty changes including environmental variables durin$ pre and post impoundment conditions of Kali Gandaki River will be an excellent case study. And seasona!'variation in fish diversity and water quality was sampled in July. November and March to represent three seasons w~t. winter and summer for pre-impoundment condition of Kal~ Gandaki River. 24 fish species under 7 families were collected from Kali Gandaki and Aandhi Khola near Kali Gandaki hydroelectricity dam. Out of 24 species, 10 species were commonly available and 12 species were fairly common. while 2 species rarely available according to local .fishers. The Cyprinids Barilius bendelisis and B. vagra were the most commonly available fish species in pools and runs off in these areas available in e·very season. The loach species Noemacheilus shebbearei. N Rupicola were also the most commonly available fish species. Water temperature of Kali Gandaki (in Project site) ranged 15.5-23.1°C. Dissolved oxygen, pH, total dissolve solids, ammonium (NH,N). Nitrite plus nitrate (N02+N03-N), Phosphate (POrP). and chlorophylf- ranged from 8. 9 - I 3.1 mg/1, 7.4-8.1. 94.3-176.0 mg/1, 0. 0-0. 084 mg/1, 0. 01-0.19 mg/1, 0. 007-0. 017 mgll. and 1. 0-1. 6 pg/1, respectively. |
