| Abstract: |
Five indigenous breeds of buffalo (Lime, Parkote, Mid-Hill-Local (MHL), Terai Local (TL) and Arna (wild
buffalo) were evaluated for various traits. Higher calving age and more calving interval were found in MHL
50 months and 20 months in MHL and TL. The higher milk yield litre/lactation was recorded from Parkote
(752) follower by Lime, MHL, TL & A rna as 681, 549, 483 & 3 79 respectively. The birth weights of calves
were recorded 24.0, 26.0, 28.0, 29.0 & 32 kg for Lime, Parkote, MHL, TL & Arna respectively. |
