Abstract:	Selection index developed at the station are highly flourishing on overall productivity of the hill goat. Body weight gain of the first generation kids is significantly improved (p of their parents. Genetic gain found in the first generation kids is arresting- up to 5. 5 per cent per year accounting to the generation interval is 2. 75 years. Breeding bucks selected on the birth type, weaning and six-month weight weighed up to 35 kg at the two years of breeding age at station management condition. Twinning up to the 8'" parity seems progressive and remains requiring in 9'h and 1 0'". Dhobini color of goat performed best both in terms of growth and reproduction. The farmers and line agencies less prefer Seti color goat. Rainy season is found to be more critical in the kids' mortality. Selective breeding has positive impact on the post weaning growth of the breed and proved as an effective tool for the hill goats.
