Abstract:	The hill black pigs are called "Chwanche" amongst .Magar co.mmunity and Sungur" among the other communities in the western hills of Nepa/1The native hill pigs.fi·om the mid-western region of Nepal are solid black colored pigs with erect ears and bow shaped body. Their body was thinly covered with erect hairs. They hare straight tails and also tusks are present in both the sexes. The mean body length from occiput 10 tail head '""'as 86 em. The body length of the male pigs were not found sign{fi.cantly d!fferent ( P> 0. 05) than that offemale pigs but the heart girrh of.fema/e pigs ll'ere observed sign(licantly greater than (P height o.ffemale pigs (}.J . .J ±1.09 em.) "·as sign(ficcmtly (P pigs (18.0±1.28 em.). The cn1erage age at .first farrowing was l/.3:r.O . .J6 months. The cn1erage litter size at birth and weaning were 8. 7-1±0. 7-1 and 7.16=.0. 70 respecth·ely.
