Abstract: |
Different levels of boron on radish production was tested during the winter months of the year 1996 to 1998 at the Agricultural Research Station, Pokhara, Nepal. The experiment was conducted in an acidic silty soil (pH 4.4-4.7) with 6 levels of borax and was replicated 4 times. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was employed in he experiment. The results revealed that significant yield increase root of radish when the borax was applied at the rate of 20 kg/ha. Highest root yields of 64.63 t/ha was achieved at this level. Application of borax at 5 kg/ha increased the root yield of radish by 10 % over non-treated radish, whereas the increment in root weight was found higher (26 %) when it was applied at the rate of 20 kg/ha. Application of borax also increased the diameter of the radish root compared to that of non-treated radish. Three years yield results indicated an increase of root diameter and root yield by borax application. |
